CARE FOR YOUR SKIN AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Does shaving or waxing make you stressed? If yes, then nothing can be better than laser hair removal therapy. Laser therapy is the most convenient and relieving way to rid yourself of unwanted hair. Nowadays, it is becoming popular among men and women. This is a common cosmetic operation that sends laser light into the hair follicles. It damages the hair follicles and inhibits hair growth in the long run. Body hair removal is no longer a painful method.

In this case, it is best to adopt the laser hair removal technique as it is a well-known permanent hair removal procedure that destroys the hair follicles reducing further growth. Laser hair removal needs some care after the procedure.

Give a Cold compress to your skin

Immediately after your treatment, redness & bumps at the treatment area are normal; these may last up to 2 hours or longer. The treated area will feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. If there is any crusting, apply an antibiotic cream prescribed by dermatologist. Darker-pigmented skin may have more discomfort than lighter skin & may persist longer.

Cleanse gently.

The treated area may be cleansed gently with mild soap. The skin should not be rubbed and patted dry during the first 48 hours.

No cosmetic

Do not use lotion/moisturizer/deodorant for the first 24 hours. Keep the treated area clean & dry. If further redness or irritation persists, skip your makeup & moisturizer, & deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided.

Shedding hair is normal from the treated area

Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment which is normal & they will fall out quickly. this may appear as new hair growth but It is not new hair growth. The dead hair pushes its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair come out by washing it with a washcloth.

Avoid the sun.

You need to avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (SPF 25 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.

Avoid other hair removal methods

Avoid picking/scratching/waxing/threading/tweezing the area of the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal methods or products on the treated area during your laser treatments, as it can affect achieving the best results.
